Being single on Valentine's Day can make even the most fabulously-confident female feel like she's dateless at the prom. All of your girlfriends have dinner plans, your co-workers keep on receiving roses and that red strapless number you wanted from Bloomingdale's is now officially out of stock. You may feel like life sucks, and you may want to hide out in your apartment and drink a bottle of merlot for dinner. However, there is a way you can handle the holiday without having a horrible sulking session. Simply follow these single girl survival tips for cupid's commercialized day.

Tip # 1: Host a Single Ladies Movie Marathon

Invite all of your single girlfriends over and order some tasty takeout and pop open some bubbly. Then pick out an array of feel-good chick flicks you can all watch together. Some of iMag’s picks include: Sex and the City, Mean Girls, Adventures in Babysitting, Love Actually, When Harry Met Sally, The Holiday, My Best Friend's Wedding, Clueless, Pretty Woman, Mystic Pizza, The First Wives Club, Grease and Dirty Dancing. Believe me, when you're feeling blue, Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte can solve just about anything.

Tip # 2: Organize Your Life

Go through your inbox and actually respond to the people you've been meaning to keep in touch with this year. Then get a head start on your taxes or clean out your closet. Use this alone time to your advantage and get ahead. You will be proud of yourself in the long run and your V-Day will fly by way faster than you think.

Tip # 3: Create Your Own Spa Session

The best way to get out of your V-Day damper is with a little pampering. Give yourself a manicure/pedicure, put a hot oil treatment in your hair, shape your own eyebrows, make your own facial mask, and put some cucumbers over your eyes. You'll de-puff, reduce stress, and feel fabulous!

Tip # 4: Take the Initiative on Your Love Life

After a night of pampering, put on your sexiest outfit, take a new profile picture and sign up for online dating. Not sure where to begin when it's comes to setting up your profile? Click here. Also, it’s a good time to let go of any old flames that may still be lurking around in your love life. Erase your ex-boyfriend’s phone number, and de-tag all of those precious moments you spent with him in Disney World three years ago. He's probably moving on, so shouldn't you? Believe me, there is no better time than Valentine's Day for a fresh start.

Tip # 5: Give Back

You may feel lonely and down in the dumps, but what about all the other people out there who have it so much worse than you? There is no better way to spread some love than by helping others. For ways to get help out in your community visit VolunteerMatch.com.

Tip # 6: Resort to Retail Therapy

A great go-to remedy for any stressful situation is shopping. But in this economy it's kind of tough to shop 'til you drop without maxing out your credit card. Try hitting the mall in the late-afternoon on Valentine’s Day. The stores will be less crowded because more people will be focused on going to dinner and you will have an easier time and less competition picking through the sale racks. Getting a great deal on a new outfit releases a ton of endorphins (or at least it feels that way).

Tip # 7: Party Like a Bachelor

Single men have no problem going out on Valentine's Day and living it up, so why is it that women feel like there is a stigma attached to going solo on the holiday? Grab one of your single girlfriends, put on your favorite jeans and head to the local sports bar. Order a pitcher of beer and a big burger and actually indulge. I guarantee that there will be a numerous amount of single men there who will all be vying for your attention. Plus they may find the fact that you're confident enough to flaunt your singlehood pretty impressive.
