"You have to be a librarian and a stripper" is one of the many pieces of insightful advice Mike (Gerard Butler) gives to a clueless Abby (Katherine Heigl) in the new hit movie, The Ugly Truth.  Throughout the film, Mike coaches Abby on what goes on inside the male mind ... and what to do to land her dream man.  His cocky, chauvinistic, yet charismatic demeanor is based on relationship guru and famous "bad boy", Steve Santagati.  Author of New York Times bestseller, The MANual: A True Bad Boy Explains How Men Think, Date, and Mate, Santagati enlightened us about his bad boy ways!

How does it feel to have an entire movie based on you?

Before I saw it I was nervous because I thought that someone like Clay Aiken, or The Jonas Brothers would be playing my part.  Gerard Butler, (especially now that I've hung out and spent some time with him), was a big relief.  It was great. You know why?  Because there's a million charlatans out there and relationship experts, and they didn't do a movie about their personality.  The bottom line is that women, as much as Hollywood and the media don't understand, want "the ugly truth".  They want the truth that's going to bring them to a higher level of understanding so that they can actually have fun in relationships.

To a lot of women, you sound chauvinistic.  What would you say to them?

I fell in love with women. I fell in love with your species, if you will.  Women have been so instrumental as friends and girlfriends in my life and in making me happy. You just round off my edges, you soften my heart, you've slapped me, you've taught me everything.  You are just as brutal as we are at the end of the day.

I know a lot of women who proclaim that men are "too shallow" and only care about looks. What advice would you give to women who lament about this?

I feel these women have to go to "Zip-it.com", and I'll tell you why. You're just as shallow as we are.  You'll find the women who are saying that women who haven't taken care of their bodies and haven't taken care of themselves and are trying to date outside of their looks range.  The truth of the matter is that we're all affected by looks.  We're all affected by bodies and being sexually turned on.  You have to have that lust, whether you're a man or a woman.

Why do you think that 'bad boys' are so appealing to women?

For several reasons: In an odd way, we make you feel safe.  We're so arrogant, and so confident within who we are.  If we make a decision, you know that we'll be able to take care of you in some capacity, whether it's in bed, or on a date. However, we might not be the best husband choices, especially in our 20s.  The second thing is: Women are just like men.  You're as naughty and as bad as we are.  Your peers look down on you when you're naughty.  They call you bad names, they call you this; they call you that.  Bad boys make it feel like right off the bat that it's safe to be naughty; because real bad boys don't kiss and tell.  The third thing: it's very primal.  It's not going to change in our lifetime. There's something inside of a woman that makes her want an alpha male. It's nature: Birds want it, insects want it, everybody wants an alpha male, and bad boys are a version of that.
