The 5 Spookiest Jobs
Sometimes it's frightening how ridiculous your co-workers, boss or interns can be. But would you call it spooky? Probably not. Well take a look at this list of the five scariest jobs that really will give you nightmares.
2009 brought us one of the shakiest job markets we've seen in years. Thousands are out of work, and experts say the situation isn't set to improve any time soon. So if the latest unemployment numbers have you terrified … beware … because we've uncovered some of America’s creepiest careers!
These scary, and sometimes life threatening professions may have you thinking twice about ditching your dull desk job!
Bridge Painter
Why it's spooky: Dangling hundreds of feet in the air over churning bodies of water, men and women repair and paint our country's bridges. Take for example the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan. The third largest suspension bridge in the world, it shoots over 550 feet in the air. Each year, men and women risk their lives painting and repairing this American landmark.
Grave Digger/Cemetery Worker
Why it's spooky: Fairly self-explanatory. However, something you may not know is that these folks make more money than your average entry-level journalist (Note to self …) Another positive, grave diggers are always in high demand! As long as people are dying, cemeteries are hiring. So if the tough job market has you out of work, look no further than your local graveyard!
Exterminator
Why it's spooky: These guys and gals spend their work day searching for snakes, spiders, mice, and more. In the south, they're faced with roaches the size of Rhode Island. Up north, they ward off the kind of weird insects you had memorized in middle school science class. Personally, we have plenty of rats in our lives (by way of pesky ex-boyfriends) … it's hard enough to exterminate them!
Undercover Cop
Why it's spooky: Dressed in plain-clothes, these brave men and women scour the streets for drug busts and murder plots. In dark, dangerous alleys, crime quietly looms at every corner … and these courageous cops have to be ready to fight back in an instant. The Verdict: A gripping episode of Law & Order from the comfort of the living room couch seems much more appealing!
Prison Guard
Why it's spooky: Correction officers in maximum security prisons brush shoulders with some of America's most cold-hearted criminals. Murderers, sex offenders, drug dealers … you name it, they've seen it, and they have to interact with them day in and day out. I don't care HOW terrifying your boss may be, working with him/her can't be half as scary as working with the likes of Charles Manson!
I don't know about you guys … but the daily grind of 9-5 doesn't seem so bad! To make the day go faster a little faster check out our Halloween at the Office video.
