Time to Get CraftyFor their new book, Wallpaper Projects, husband and wife design duo Derek Fagerstrom and Lauren Smith came up with a series of ideas on how you can use wallpaper (off the wall) with smaller projects around the home. From covering cannisters to toppers for tv trays, they've certainly strayed from the conventional use of wallpaper to show people how to incorporate prints and patterns without paying a fortune. If you have a lamp that is part of a larger room, consider a subtle style that will accent its focal features. For a smaller room (and a smaller lamp), perhaps a bolder print will add a pop to the room's design.

So if you can't decide on one, choose a couple that complement each other. Derek and Lauren chose a muted pattern for the wall with vinyl flowers for the base, which makes for an eye-catching design without giving you a headache.
